The Owner

Caitlin Cascaddan

Hello everyone, I'm Caitlin, the owner and sole employee of sensory salon. I have been doing hair most of my life, originally starting with braids and updos on myself, my sisters, and our friends at just 12 years old. It was just a fun hobby until I decided to make it a career over 10 years later and went and got my cosmetology license. While in school, I realized how much I wanted to be a salon owner and create a fun and inviting environment for everyone.

One thing I quickly realized in school was how overwhelming a salon could be. I have some mild sensory issues and I can only imagine what it would be like for someone with stronger ones. I did some research and realized that there were very few salons that worked with sensory needs and most of them just offer silent services. I want to change that,

While right now Sensory Salon is a one woman mobile business, I do plan to expand it eventually. Right now I come to you and make things more comfortable by being in a familiar space. The long term goal is to build a physical salon that allows for more control over sensory input.  I won't go into too much detail, but it will be amazing.

Now brides, don't think I forgot about you. I love formal styling. Its always been a passion and I love creating beautiful updos. I can do elegant, classic styles and more fanciful themed ones as well. I've even done an entire bridal party full of Shieldmaidens! Whatever your vision for your big day is, I would love to be a part of making it a reality.

Hairstyling History

2008

I started braiding my own hair following a terrible haircut that left me with what I called "my white-girl fro." My options were to keep it French braided or look like a puff-ball. I taught myself to braid and realized how much fun hair is. I spent a bunch of time on YouTube learning different styles and techniques, which I practiced on my sisters and our friends.

2021-2022

Taylor Andrews Academy of Hair Design

After years of thinking about it, I finally went to school and got my license. I learned so much from the amazing instructors there who helped me to refine and grow my repertoire.

2022- Now

I finished school and went straight into working for a cooperate salon. It allowed me to grow as a stylist even more and connect with some other amazing stylists as well, but it was never quite the right fit, so I left to start Sensory Salon in February 2024. I now spend every day honing my skills and growing my business.
